Amazon announced it has filed several lawsuits against the directors of more than 10,000 Facebook groups involved in the purchase and sale of false reviews. The groups in question were used by some companies to change the rating of their products for sale on Amazon.
Groups allowed users to recruit users to offer free products, coupons, or other tools. In return, the person would have to write a fake positive review for the products indicated by the customer.

One of the groups reported by Amazon had more than 43,000 members. Facebook suspended it in early 2022. “We are constantly monitoring Facebook, Twitter and TikTok,” the company says.
In the statement, Amazon cites the case of Amazon Product Review, a group that had more than 43,000 members in early 2022—when Facebook took it offline. “Amazon categorically prohibits the production of fake reviews and has tasked a team of more than 12,000 employees around the world with protecting the site from scams and abuse of any kind, including fake reviews,” a company spokesperson said. “A team is actively investigating every possible hypothesis of illegal activity on social networks, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter.” Amazon added that it has reported more than 10,000 fake review groups. Meta would have eclipsed about half of the reported groups.
