As you know, when a customer subscribes to Amazon Prime, they not only get free shipping, but also access to Amazon Music, a music streaming service; Kindle Unlimited to read thousands of books; and, of course, to Prime Video, an app full of movies and TV shows.

For all that, Amazon’s annual subscription is worth it, at least in Spain, where it costs 36 euros a year and offers more services than what’s on the market. What it takes to have one of the most profitable jobs on the planet.

But let’s get to the important thing: Prime Video. Amazon’s audiovisual-focused streaming service has been competing with Netflix for many customers for years. In Spain, it has always been very close, and in the United States as well. The only negative point: the app.

Prime Video redesigned its app to make it easier for you to choose what to watch

The Prime Video app is by far the worst of all options on the market. Even newer ones like Disney+ or HBO Max lagged behind in terms of design, ease of use, and speed. Fortunately, Amazon seems to be trying to catch up.

Amazon is testing a new Prime Video interface that anyone who uses Netflix will be familiar with in recent years.

To make the Prime Video experience “less cluttered and overwhelming”, the company moved the platform’s main navigation bar to the left side of the screen and arranged icons in a vertical column.

The six menus, from top to bottom, are Search, Home, Store, Live TV, Free, and My Items. And most menus include subcategories to further simplify navigation. For example, the Home section has subcategories for Movies, TV Shows, and Sports.

Other Netflix-inspired features include a list of the 10 most popular content and poster-like thumbnails that expand to play a preview as you hover over them.

Prime Video redesign

Again, The most useful change Amazon has to offer is a new icon set that makes it easier to tell if something is part of Prime Video.. A blue check mark means that the TV show or movie you want to watch is included in your subscription.

In contrast, a gold shopping bag means you have to buy or rent to view the content. According to The Verge, Amazon worked on the redesign for 18 months. Ben Smith, vice president of product for Prime Video and Prime studios, is the one running the project.
