New York would be the establishment of ban on the sale of puppies of cat, dog and rabbit in the pet stores. Anyone looking to buy a puppy should turn to shelters and facilities for dogs looking for a home and owner. To decide whether to sign the bipartisan bill “Puppy Mill Pipeline” will be Governor Kathy Hochul. The proposal was approved by the Senate and the Assembly.
The goal is: brakes farms of rabbits, dogs and cats for the sole purpose of making a profit without regard for the welfare of the animals. The latter are forced to live in very bad conditions of decay and survival. Pet stores are one of the cornerstones of this process. Intensive breeders rely on it to try and make the form of animal cruelty less dirty.
Pets in puppy mills experience severe cruelty and neglect. Huddled in tiny, filthy cages and deprived of companionship and love, mothers are forced to have several litters a year until they are too mature to reproduce. When they are no longer profitable, dogs are usually killed or abandoned. Poor sanitation, little or no veterinary care, and inadequate and spoiled food are the hallmarks of puppy mills.
Animal Legal Defense Fund, one of many associations fighting to end such exploitation
Puppy mills are run by people who use and abuse animals to sell pets. Animals often gripped by congenital diseases, costing unsuspecting consumers hundreds or thousands of dollars in veterinary bills and unpredictable emotional problems.
Linda B. Rosenthal, one of the members of the Assembly who proposed the law
Governor Hochul is about to decide whether or not to sign this bill. If the signing took place, New York would join the California, the first state to sign in 2017. Spain and France have started the process and a number of procedures are already in place or will take place in the future. In Italy, unfortunately, there is still no semblance of this law.
