During the’unpacked, Samsung advertised that the galaxy watch 4 brought 3x more active Wear OS watches to the market, then brought Google into the fold to talk about the upcoming changes to Wear OS as a whole and that includes support for SoundCloud and Deezerwhich is likely to arrive later this year.
Google has also announced that Google Maps app for Wear OS now supports offline navigationsince Maps currently requires the user to be connected to a smartphone for navigation, but this change will allow you to continue browsing even if you have forgotten your phone, and this feature will come “later this year”.
In addition, Google is also renewing the Play Store on Wear OS to better match those on smartphones, and by the end of the year the Play Store on Wear OS will offer new collections of apps, showcase trending apps and show “personalized recommendations”.
