Application Microsoft PowerToys is a set of tools created by Microsoft and others (they are open source) designed to improve Windows productivity, but they do not belong to Windows. You must download it from the Windows Store or GitHub.
These utilities are intended for advanced users who work with Windows on a daily basis. perform very specific functionswhich are not for everyone.
There is a total 11 tools, and are activated one by one and individually. So you can only use the ones you need or the ones you want to try. and so on Two other highly interesting ones will be added.
Through Techspot, we learned that PowerToys is about to release a tool called powerocr, what extract text from photo or scanned document, so you don’t have to type it. which is basically optical character recognizer (OCR).
They have been used for decades, but until now were not available as a Windows tool, you had to use third-party applications such as Text Grab, on which it is based. powerocr.
With this utility you can select a rectangle of a photo, and PowerOCR will extract the text it contains. It is very useful, basically, to convert a scanned or photographed document to text without retyping it.
PowerOCR is available in beta on GitHub and will soon be integrated into Microsoft PowerToys.
The second tool to add to the collection Screen Rulermeasuring ruler to calculate things like the area of the zone in the photo, or the distance between objectsmeasured in pixels.
It is intended for engineers, graphic designers, students and people who need this type of data.
You can download Microsoft PowerToys from the official GitHub page or directly from the Windows Store. It is available for both Windows 10 and Windows 11. But you still have to wait a few weeks for these utilities to be added.
