Something is moving in Google’s galaxy of products and services. There’s, how to say… the smell of purity in the air. At the expense of this, the application may be Google Podcastswhich may be embedded in YouTube.
Google Podcast has been around since 2016 when it was an integrated feature within Google Play Music and which was then split into an ad hoc application. Meanwhile, six years have passed and Google Play Music is dead and defunct, in turn recorded by Youtube musicwhich is now Google’s only go-to music hub.
In the meantime it has also happened – or rather, it is happening now – that a new section has appeared on YouTube. Is called YouTube podcast. Many on the web started with 2+2. Two products can really coexist partially (if not all and forever) within the same company. And if so, for how long?
Obviously, there are already those imagining that YouTube Podcast will eventually just include Google Podcast, leaving the latter brand to retire.
Right now, YouTube Podcast is a simple tag within the largest exploration portion of the video platform. Moreover, it is not even available to everyone, but only to a few randomly selected users. In short, it is still early to draw conclusions. Currently, the section only indexes podcasts in video format, not just audio content.
Still, it could just be dress rehearsals and in the very near future, YouTube Podcast could get a little more ambitious. We will see.
