Recently the answer was given by Carl Peic to a Twitter user. The question: “I don’t think you ever mentioned it, but when Android 13 arrives on Nothing Phone (1)? Answer: “A product is much more than its specifications, numbers and software version”.
Needless to say they didn’t like it that much. After all, the answer in itself is not so little that it almost seems like a foothold for a ride. Nothing promised “the best of the Android experience” possible with its custom NothingOS interface and rightly so, many users were misled that this also meant getting available updates at lightning speed. In short, a riot was born.
Let’s be clear. Nothing is a very young brand. It has just launched its first smartphone and NothingOS still has more than a few flaws to report. It goes without saying that you immediately switch to Android 13, before the current build is fixed, it could be a huge and dangerous leap in the dark. The fact remains that Pei’s is a vague answer and users of Nothing certainly deserved more transparency.
And so a new clarification comes after a few days. A company spokesperson has indicated that Android 13 will be released on Nothing Phone (1) later the first half of 2023. That is, by June 2023 at the latest, in almost a year. Let’s say it’s a pretty generous deadline. To put it in context, Google has already started rolling out Android 13 on all of its Pixel smartphones.
