Little by little, Netflix reveals more and more information about his new cheap subscription, the one supported by the ad breaks. As pointed out above, advertising will not be the only waiver offered by the low-priced formula: the plan will also offer somewhat less content than the classic subscription (because of the rights), in addition, it will most likely not prevent the download of movies and episodes of the TV series.

Fortunately, today’s news is less discouraging: apparently not all contents of the catalog will de commercial break. This was revealed by some rumours, according to which Netflix would like to “forgive” at least two types of content from advertisements: cartoons and movies for children and the movies that have just been added to the catalog.

The first exclusion should surprise to some extent: Advertising within content intended for children is strictly regulated in the US and the rest of the world, showing breaks before a cartoon would be an extremely controversial move. Even Disney+ had already announced that it wanted to exclude the commercials from the content intended for an audience under the age of 6.

As for excluding advertising for the most recent movies, it seems that Netflix wants to cater to the needs of filmmakers, who may see commercials as a tacky initiative that can ruin the experience of watching their movies. In this case, it would only be a temporary exclusion: after a few days or a few weeks (the timing has yet to be clarified), the advertising will also be included in the most recent films.
