Traditionally, Apple opens September with the presentation of its new smartphones. At the Fear Out event, the Cupertino company presented the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus – the latter is a new line with a large screen with the same performance as the base model.
If the iPhone 14 has a 6.1-inch screen, the new iPhone 14 Plus measures 6.7-inches, just like the Pro Max.
As expected by the rumors, the heart of the new iPhone 14 is the chip? A15 Bionicthis time equipped with six-core CPU, including four efficiency core, and neural motor.
Apple claims the new iPhone 14 Plus has the best battery life ever on an iPhone, but the company hasn’t gone into details. The screen is an OLED with a maximum brightness of 1200 nits and Dolby Vision technology.
The new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be available at launch in five colors: midnight, starlight, blue, purple and product red.
As with the previous generation, we find a photographic module with two lenses and a new 12MP main camera with 1.9micron pixels, OIS and f/1.5 aperture. Apple claims the new camera has improved dramatically in low-light shooting, with a 49% improvement in performance over the previous generation. We move to the other side, where we find a new selfie camera with – for the first time – autofocus and an aperture of good f/1.9.
Apple has introduced a new algorithm responsible for processing and improving the appearance of photos. Called the Photonic Engine, it is designed to improve the rendering and accuracy of photos in low light conditions. This is not the only novelty: there is also the ‘Action mode’ to improve image stability when recording videos.
For the first time, iPhone 14 models sold in the US will be without traditional SIM slots. They only work with eSIM. It is likely that this novelty will not affect the Italian market.
Even on the iPhone 14, thanks to the new generation of gyroscope and accelerometer, we find the function crash detectionwho can understand when the user is involved in a traffic accident and call for help.
On the emergency front, there is another important novelty: the new iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are the first Apple smartphones equipped with satellite link. This connectivity is only available when the traditional mobile network is absent and allows you to: send SOS emergency in danger. In short, the last resort in an emergency. It will not be possible to use satellites to text friends on WhatsApp or watch Netflix. On the other hand, satellite connection can be used to track the phone using the ‘Where‘. Initially, satellite connectivity access will be available exclusively in the US and Canada.
