Half has announced the date of its next conference devoted entirely to the metaverse and, more broadly, to new products for virtual reality. The event is called Connect and will take place on October 11.
Mark Zuckerberg decided to promote Meta’s efforts for virtual reality in the first person and also on this occasion it was he who announced the event with a post on Facebook. With many photos where you can see him with binoculars on his head.
As expected by Zuckerberg himself in a recent interview, Meta will be presenting at least one new VR headset during the event. This is the so-called Project Cambriaa high-end, high-performance version of the popular Meta Quest 2 headset.
Meta has already invested more than 10 billion in the so-called metaverse, that is, in creating a series of interconnected products based on VR and augmented reality. Today the results are still modest: there is only one platform, halfway between social and video game in Second Life, called Horizon Worlds.
Horizon Worlds it is currently unavailable in Italy and its graphics have recently been criticized by internet users, who have parodied it in numerous memes. Zuckerberg has repeatedly explained that he believes that virtual reality has not yet taken hold because headsets do not yet have a sufficiently mature technology. Project Cambria could at least partially exceed this limit.
The new headset will not be cheap. According to some rumors, Project Cambria could have an introductory price of 800 euros. That’s almost twice the price of Meta Quest 2, Meta’s current flagship product.
