Turn on the viewer MetaQuest 2 in the head and here comes a huge virtual screen. An Xbox, with all its features, projected right in front of our eyes. During the Meta Connect 2022 event the landing of Xbox Cloud Gaming on Virtual Reality.
Microsoft has worked closely with Meta to bring cloud gaming into the Meta Quest Store. It means users can access the vast Xbox Game Pass catalog in virtual reality. All you need is a compatible controller and it becomes possible to play triple A video games by projecting the images onto the viewer’s screen.
Players will of course need to subscribe to the Game Pass Ultimate, the service that provides access to cloud gaming, as well as the Game Pass catalog for both PC and Xbox.
The games are played within one 2D virtual screen. So it’s not a real adaptation of the Microsoft service’s video games to virtual reality. In addition, unlike Sony, Microsoft doesn’t seem interested in integrating virtual reality into the Xbox ecosystem.
Meta and Microsoft have not yet announced the arrival date of Xbox Cloud Gaming on Meta Quest 2 headsets. “We’ll keep you updated very soon,” both companies promised.
