Sony and Honda they will produce together electric cars. The first car could arrive in less than three years, in the first half of 2025. At the moment, the details are still scarce, but the circumstances bode well.

Sony has already tiptoed the car market by unveiling a fully functional concept car called Sony Vision S – was road tested in Austria.

The two companies have formed a joint venture called Sony Honda Mobility. Pre-orders of the first car made by the Sony-Honda axis can be booked as early as the first half of 2025. In 2026 it will be sold in both the US and Japan, while we have no news on the European market yet.

Not just cars: The joint venture aims to become a 360-degree Mobility Tech Company, offering a wide range of software products and services to private and institutional customers.

The Tesla model will be used for the vehicle distribution network: vehicles can be booked and purchased directly online, without the intervention of dealers. Sony Honda Mobility also wants to create an online community with its future customers and fans.

We know from Sony Honda Mobility’s first electric car that it will be of the premium range and that it will make use of some of the innovative technologies that Sony has designed for its concept car: it is therefore reasonable to have a high-end infotainment system to be expected, as well as advanced semi-autonomous technologies. The two companies want to make a car equipped with: autonomous driving level 3.
