According to an estimate by Sensor Tower, Statista and Tech Crouch,Apple App Store revenue generated for more than 65 billion dollars in 2022. This is a partial figure, covering the period January through September only.

It is an extremely important fact: it would be more than double the amount raised from the Google Play Store. Apple users have spent more than $64.9 billion on applications, subscriptions and in-app purchases. In nine months, they have already spent 3% more than in all of 2021.

If Apple sets new records, the same cannot be said of Google. Google Play Store revenue fell to $31.7 billion in 2022 compared to $35.1 billion in the first nine months of 2021.

Android users seem to prefer free applications. If you look at the download numbers, the Google Store triumphs: 82.4 billion downloads in nine months. About 3.5 times the number of App Store downloads. It must be said that a significant part of that 64.9 billion depends on subscription services from Apple, including Apple Music. The all-important gap between the two markets could be explained, at least in part, as follows.
