Spotify prepares to follow the (unfortunate) lead of Apple Music. The leading music streaming platform is considering increasing the cost of the subscription Premium. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek revealed it right away.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Ek explained that a price increase fromsubscription it’s almost inevitable. Note that Spotify is also working on a new subscription – much more expensive – that would include, among other things, the reproduction of music with HiFi quality.

A price hike in the US is inevitable, it’s something we’re already discussing and we’ll be talking to our partners and record labels soon.

Daniel Ek explained. In the same interview, the director suggested that Spotify Premium’s price hike could come in 2023. He didn’t go out of his way to reveal how much the raise might be.

This week, Apple Music increased the cost of its subscription in several countries, including Italy. The individual subscription now costs €10.99 (Family and Students have increased to €16.99 and €5.99 respectively).
