An electric scooter is an environmentally friendly vehicle: does not pollute and unload cities. But if it is thrown somewhere, their lithium batteries are highly pollutingand its metallic materials it will take over 1000 years to break up.
Four Swedish designers decided to start a recycling company called Andra Formen (Second Form) when they read the news in the newspaper that 200 abandoned electric scooters found in the canals of Malmö. by their owners or discarded by thieves.
So, they teamed up with one goal: find ways to recycle electric scooters.
Near cheap cars that are also easy to steal, easily damaged when dropped hundreds of thousands have been sold in conscientious countries such as Sweden.
Sooner or later these scooters will be abandoned and something needs to be done with them because they are not easy to recycle.
Four members of Andra Formen they started by removing abandoned scooters from the bottom of Malmö’s canals, with the permission of the authorities. Some have been there for so long they had shells inside.
They were carefully cleaned and divided into parts. Later they came up with various use cases. With tubes and scooter LEDs they created colorful flower pots:
As seen in the previous photo, some metal parts retain bumps and scars. They did not want to restore them as evidence of the “life” of scooters.
His most popular creations can be seen in the first photo of the news: LED lamps made from scooter handlebarsand colorful metal chairs for children and adults.
Halfway between art, justification and utility, Andra Foreman draws attention to a problem that municipalities and governments will have to face sooner or later.
