According to information released by the agency Reuters, this Thursday (3), american medicine pfizer began a study to evaluate the creation of a vaccine combining immunizations against covid-19 and common flu.
The research is being conducted in partnership with the German pharmaceutical company. BioNTech
To carry out the study, the companies plan to use the mRNA-based flu vaccine technology and the Ômicron-adapted coronavirus booster immunizer. Because it’s still at an early stage, it will likely take some time for scientists to come up with valid results.
The first research volunteer is already being tested with the vaccine. According to the information obtained, a total of 180 volunteer participants between the ages of 18-64 will be invited.
So far, Pfizer and BioNTech have not announced the expected release of the final version of the vaccine. In any case, other pharmaceutical companies such as Moderna and Novavax are also exploring how to develop vaccines that combine immunizers from the two viruses.
