The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) has launched a new certification program to evaluate the performance of displays. While AdaptiveSync Display focuses on high refresh rates and low latency of gaming monitors and laptop screens, MediaSync Display guarantees a flicker-free display of all international video formats.

To receive the AdaptiveSync Display rating, panels must pass more than 50 automated performance tests. These are related to various factors such as refresh rate, jitter, g2g response times, frame drops and jitter. According to the test specification, all factory-set displays should be tested at room temperature so that the evaluation is based on realistic user conditions.

Full test criteria can be found here (link.)

The VESA Certified AdaptiveSync logo carries a performance number that reflects the maximum refresh rate the display can achieve at its native resolution (such as 144 or 240 Hz). The MediaSync Display logo does not include a number as it emphasizes smooth media playback. In addition, both are tested and certified to VESA’s DisplayPort standard.
