The release schedule for Intel’s Arc Alchemist graphics cards has been unclear for some time. Although Team Blue launched its first laptop GPUs at the end of March, no laptop with these chips has been found so far. In addition, there are rumors that desktop cards will also be released in the third quarter at the earliest – a quarter after promised.

Intel plans to release more than four million discrete GPUs this year.

Intel CEO Lisa Pearce has confirmed that Samsung has launched its first Arc laptops in South Korea. These will be coming to other regions and models from other manufacturers soon. Also, the lowest segment A3 desktop cards are expected to be in China this quarter. The rollout of more powerful A5 and A7 SKUs will begin “late this summer” globally with OEMs and system builders, followed by individual sales worldwide.

In his own words, this planning should ensure that Intel can “effectively serve its customers.” But in the aisles, the manufacturer allegedly still has trouble refining drives. For example, they failed to release a driver update that was promised in April. According to Pearce, this is due to additional functionality added during development that is causing the patch to take longer.

Intel may be talking about a limited edition A780 to compete with the RTX 3070 and RX 6700 XT.
