After initial renders and images of a soundbar still called the Fury at the time, Sonos has now made the official announcement. The Sonos Ray will launch on June 7 for $279 or €299, making it more expensive than anticipated.

Sonos’ cheapest soundbar doesn’t have HDMI, so the user has to rely on an optical cable. There is also no Dolby Atmos support, only for Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround. Sonos has tuned the two tweeters, two mid-woofers, and bass system with Truplay, which adjusts the settings to the room the soundbar is placed in.

Since there is no built-in microphone, voice control relies on the brand’s easy-to-connect smart speakers. In addition to its relatively low price point, the Ray’s compactness is a possible plus. The enclosure measures 71 x 559 x 95 millimeters and can be hung horizontally or vertically. The black and white version will be released next month.

Speaking of colours, the portable wireless Sonos Roam has been updated with three new colours. In addition to being neutral black and white, orange, blue and olive green are also among the options. From June 1, Sonos Sound Control will be available on speakers for 199 euros each.
