In the framework of CES 2023, MSI unveils entry-level ‘gaming’ laptops Cyborg 15 Offering a solution for those looking for something powerful without spending too much budget.
The Cyborg 15 A12VF model consists of the twelfth generation Core I7 processor (12650H).It has 10 cores (6 for performance and 4 for efficiency) and a maximum frequency of 4.7 GHz.
As for memory, this laptop comes with 8GB DDR5, but it can be expanded up to 64GB thanks to its two slots. On the other hand, in terms of storage we have a 512GB M.2 NVMe Gen.4 SSD.
It has a 15.6 inch panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) on the screen. The refresh rate is 144 Hz.All this is accompanied by an Nvidia 40 series graphics card: the RTX 4060, perhaps one of the best points of this configuration.
The mentioned GPU has 8GB and 3,072 Cuda cores. This latest generation graphics card from Nvidia features third-generation Ray Tracing cores and fourth-generation Tensor cores (those used in the AI application), meaning excellent performance and access to Nvidia’s entire “team”. Including DLSS3.
On its own the GPU is powerful enough to take advantage of the rest of the setup. Metro Exodus reaches 121 FPS at ‘low’ settings and Full HD without applying DLSS. On the contrary, it reaches 27 FPS with maximum settings and without DLSS.
In Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands it reaches 53 FPS on ultra settings and 93 FPS on high settings.
We can now exceed 100 FPS at medium/high settings with the help of DLSS in games like Spiderman Miles Morales.
Despite the high graphics load that could mean, Cyborg 15 remains quiet and unpretentious.
This notebook has translucent parts. Bottom on one side, WASD, power and arrow keys on the other. This is a thin (21.95 mm) and light (almost 2 kilos) computer with a metal chassis and a hinge that opens smoothly up to 180 degrees.
Among the ports we find a 3.5mm audio jack, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 type A ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 type C port, an HDMI 2.1 output and an RJ45 input.
However, the Cyborg 15 was established as a very portable device with insignificant power that stood out, if not the most powerful configuration in the segment.
