WhatsApp with over two billion users worldwide crashed. According to the private portal Downdetector, there were problems with the servers as of Wednesday, July 19th.

User reports indicate difficulties with all functions preventing them from sending messages, images and more. From the Downdetector monitoring, the faults started around 15:00 (Colombian time).

Instantly, thousands of people trended WhatsApp and #WhatsAppDown on Twitter. Once again, some choose to laugh at memes as they seek other communication alternatives.

“The App” is part of Meta, a company that also owns Facebook and Instagram and is managed by Mark Zuckerberg. As the minutes passed, WhatsApp did not explain the cause of the worldwide problem.
