Danone Russia has filed applications with Rospatent for the registration of the Maximel, Actimunis and Actibifidus trademarks for classes 28, 30 and 32 of the International Classification of Goods and Services. The company, if approved, will be able to produce milk, dairy drinks and yogurts under these names, Vedomosti learned.
They are in tune with the international brand Actimel. The company has already stopped producing yoghurts and curds under the Activia brand in Russia, renaming it Aktibio.
Now none of the new names appear in the product line on the official Danone website. Aleksey Koshkin, a trademark specialist at Online Patent, believes that the assumption about the rebranding of this brand is not unfounded, since similar actions were carried out with Activia.
- In March 2022, Danone suspended investment projects in the Russian Federation, in October the company announced its final withdrawal from the Russian market. The Agnta group of companies showed interest in the company’s Russian assets. In July 2023, Danone decided to localize the international brand Activia for the Russian market. This will help the company to resume investment in local business development.
- On July 16, 2023, Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which Danone and Baltika shares owned by foreign companies are transferred to the temporary management of the Federal Property Management Agency. On July 18, the Deputy Prime Minister of Chechnya, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic Yakub (Ibragim) Zakriev became the general director of Danone Russia, according to the data of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.
