Popular Instagram app Threads is facing a decline in its active Android user base. 79 percent drop in the last month, according to the statistics of the analysis portal Similar web.

Launched by Meta in early July this year, Threads sought to establish itself as an alternative to microblogging social networks that allow users to share their thoughts, ideas and creativity via X-like (formerly Twitter) text posts.

His arrival was enthusiastically received and in just one week he reached 100 million subscriber accounts worldwide. Although this is not available in all countries (like European Union countries).

latest data collected by Similar web and shared by Border Reveal a different picture for the subjects. The number of active users of its platform for Android devices fell 79 percent last month.

Comparatively, on July 7, the portal recorded 49.3 million daily active users in its Android app. But data collected on August 7 shows that this has only dropped to 10.3 million.

(Interesting: Topics adds a unique stream to see followed posts: that’s how it works.)

The drop in app activity is also reflected in the time spent using it. Similar web reports that the average daily time active users spend on Threads has dropped to just three minutes, as opposed to the roughly 14 minutes they originally spent.
