A 31-year-old man was killed minutes after calling and trying to get back to his ex-partner in the Andes Mountains (Antioquia).. The victim was identified as Juan David Vélez.

According to the police report, the fight took place at a house in the municipality of Antioquia. Vélez, who worked for the gas company, was due to arrive at his ex-girlfriend’s house in the San Pedro neighborhood on the afternoon of October 1.

There he would find his ex-partner chatting with someone else. Apparently, this caused him obvious discomfort, which led to a strong conflict among those present.

In the incidents investigated by the authorities, Vélez was attacked with a sharp weapon in the abdomen. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was treated at San Rafael de Andes Hospital and had to be sent to the city of Medellín.

However, according to local media reports, he died due to injuries affecting his kidneys and liver during the approximately 115-kilometer journey towards the capital of Antioquia.

A 36-year-old woman was injured in her hand and underwent surgery. He is recovering in a care centre.

Authorities are trying to determine what happened to the third person and who may have fatally injured Vélez.

Family and friends accompanied Antioquian to his funeral, which was held on the afternoon of October 3 at Nuestra Señora de la Mercedes Parish in the Andes.
