Today is Sunday and, as in the homes of many families or people living alone, it is time to do a general cleaning of the house: sweeping, mopping, dusting, doing laundry, bathing and all those tasks that take time and require little energy to make you reach the weekend after a busy week of work.
(
There are people who work and pay someone else to do these tasks once, twice, three times a week. Others, wanting some form of support, have to do it themselves to avoid spending the entire day, which should be a rest day, cleaning the house.
These helpers are available and take the form of a small, flat and noisy robot that can vacuum the house. Depending on the model, it is even possible to mop. They leave the floor without even a speck of dirt and need only one check or application to begin a tedious and often low-paying job. Who hasn’t seen the floor dirty a day after vacuuming every corner?
In this article, we will tell you how these robot vacuum cleaners that we found at the last Home Fair in Bogotá work, which models are on the market, their features, prices and warranties.

“iRobot is an American brand that pioneered the creation of robot vacuum cleaners. The designs guarantee efficiency during cleaning and operate very easily. Just press the button at the top or through the app; equipment starts cleaning your home“, explains Yéferson García, key account manager From iRobot representative Casa Magna in Colombia.
The brand has two product lines of robot vacuum cleaners. The first is the Roomba, which only vacuums and collects dirt. The second is Braava, which mops as well as sweeps. iRobot’s promise is that each model connects to its owner’s cell phone via app and Wi-Fi.
“With the app you can turn it on, off and on. Schedule it to run at specific hoursor clean a specific area of the house, depending on the model,” adds García.
Roomba references 600, 5, 6 and 960 are mid-range vacuum cleaners. It has two rollers (one collects dirt, the other transfers it to the suction channel)., a brush (to reach the corners) and a filter that can trap dust, mites and pollen. Thanks to their Dirt Detection sensors, these vacuum cleaners vacuum all types of surfaces (carpets and hard floors) and determine where they need to be cleaned. These are ideal for apartments and feature a charging base.

The difference between these is the suction power, the material of the rollers, the ability to pick up larger debris, as a pet concentrate and for vacuuming up cat and dog hair. Unlike others, the 960 features vSLAM technology, an optical sensor that captures 230 to 400 data points per second. In this case, this iRobot has the ability to create a map to determine where it is cleaning.
The Roomba jys series differs in that it has an automatic discharge feature located on the same charging base. In other words, when the dirt tank is full, the robot goes to the charging station, discharges itself and continues cleaning. In previous references, one should vacate one’s machine when it indicates that it no longer has space to continue vacuuming.
The J series is capable of detecting pet waste and cables to prevent them from getting tangled. Roomba s, unlike others, has a “D” shaped design that guarantees reaching difficult corners. Likewise, it learns cleaning habits and responds to voice commands.

There are three references in the second model, Braava. “In the 380 series, all you have to do is press the button on top to dispense water from its dispenser and thus perform dry and wet cleaning. This is ideal for small spaces,” explains García. These robots have MOP (mop) and Sweep (sweep) buttons. For the first one, you should put the pad that acts as a mat. Others on the market (m6 and 200) specialize in removing heavy stains in kitchens and bathrooms.
iRobot prices vary depending on features, technology, and what a person is looking for. The cheapest is the Braava 380, which costs 1,299,000 pesos, and the most expensive is the Braava Jet m6 (3,299,000 pesos). The warranty is one year but the lifespan of these machines can be more than 10 years depending on usage and maintenance.
Electrolux is the brand that created the first robot vacuum cleaner in 1996. However, the automation of home cleaning technology has also been disrupted. The company in Colombia offers three references, from the simplest to the latest technology and design of the Swedish company.
“The ERB40 is a robot vacuum cleaner with four functions: vacuuming, sweeping, wiping with a dry cloth and wiping with a damp cloth to achieve a deeper cleaning process,” says Electrolux robot vacuuming trainer Émerson Fajardo.

This reference operates via a remote control that gives three vacuum instructions. The square one is turbo (greater power) and the circular one is obstructive. This device has anti-fall sensors that detect the presence of a ladder and anti-collision sensors to prevent collision with objects.
The autonomy of the ERB40 is two hours and 20 minutes and it also has a charging area. C.When the robot detects that its battery is dead, it autonomously searches for the base to recharge.
“The robot vacuum cleaner has a system that determines the best suction power for the type of floor we want to vacuum. “It also has a cyclonic aspiration that separates coarse particles from fine particles during the process.” Fajardo adds.
A simpler vacuum cleaner is the ERB10, which has no wet mopping option, only dry. There is also no remote control or charging base. “It connects directly to the power source with a cable, like a mobile phone,” says Fajardo.

Finally there is Pure i9 with 3D vision that can detect one million measurement points per second and does not hit any surface. It is managed through an application that provides information about the device. Its design is triangular and ensures cleaning in every corner.
The value of ERB10 is 649,000 pesos; ERB40, 999,000; and Pure i9, 3,299,000.
Eureka is another American company that specializes in cleaning. It has two robots in the Colombian market. The simplest one is NER200 and the most specialized one is NER600. “The first one is capable of scrubbing, sweeping and vacuuming simultaneously, works with proximity sensors and has three operating modes: zigzag, automatic and rectangular. This is operated by remote control,” says Camilo Hernández from Eureka.

The latter has the ability to map the house and identify cleaning zones (kitchen, bedrooms, living room). It is managed by mobile phone or voice commands and moves to the area where it is ordered. “It has sensors that identify an object before impact and prevent falls, and it has three times the power of the NER200.”
This reference also has a mopping function and water dispenser. When the machine unloads, it automatically goes to the charging station. The price of NER200 is 1,299,999 pesos, while the price of NER600 is 2,469,999 pesos.
