The American film studio 20th Century Fox Film (a subsidiary of The Walt Disney) has extended the protection of its American Horror Story trademark in Russia for 10 years. Rospatent registered the exclusive right to the company until mid-2035, RB.RU reported.

The American company’s exclusive right expired in June 2025.
American Horror Story is an American anthology series. A total of 12 seasons were released: the first premiered in 2011, the twelfth in 2023. The seventh season of the series was about the United States presidential elections and the eighth season was about the launch of nuclear missiles that destroyed most of of the Earth.
At the end of December, the Walt Disney studio, which announced the suspension of its work in Russia, extended the rights to its brand to Rospatent.
As Alina Sidorova, a patent lawyer at the Online Patent company, informed RB.RU, foreign companies are renewing trademark registration in Russia in order not to lose rights to trademarks. In addition, this helps prevent illegal use of designations and makes it possible to demand compensation of up to 5 million rubles for violations.
