The Congress of the New Republic has not yet completed its one-month mandate and has already created excitement on different issues of interest to the citizens. In their sessions, important projects such as the reform package prepared by the government of President Gustavo Petro will be discussed.
Another initiative that needs to move forward will be lowering the salaries of congressmen. Senator Jonathan Ferney Pulido Hernández, who calls himself Jota Pe Hernández, presented a project to eliminate the service premium and set the current 25 minimum wage cap.
Hernández insists on criticizing his colleagues for their high incomes. Accordingly, the Speaker of the House of Representatives himself, David Racero also announced measures to keep Congress from spending too much money.
Racero complained that congressmen had to pay for lunch and warned that they had to “put their hands in their pockets” to pay for the food.
“As much as they insist, I will not allocate funds from the House for the lunch of 187 Representatives,” he said on his Twitter account.
“It is true that we have long study sessions. But they pay us for it. Let’s leave Sinvergüencería,” he condemned.
(We suggest: Jota Pe Hernández names the senators who will refuse to lower her salary).
Recently, the representative of the Historical Pact published a decision under the 2022 Spending Savings Plan for the bodies that make up the Nation’s General Budget. In this way, the allocation of cars to the Chamber officials was suspended indefinitely.
The measure covers those working in the Presidency, the First and Second Vice Presidency, the Secretariat General, the Undersecretariat, the Constitution, Law and Special Commissions, the Information and Press Department, and the Internal Control Department of the House of Representatives.
As the networks put it, Racero hopes that with these and other privileges eliminated, “in 4 years, we will have a group of people who are truly inspired by their work and willing to do it for the privilege that representation enjoys as a citizen.

Racero’s decision came hours later Jhon Fredy Núñez, a representative of the victims in one of the peace seats, explained on ‘W Radio that there are high costs to establish himself in Bogota to carry out his work.
“We come to the capital and have expenses such as escorts, two or three cars plus paying rent and fuel (…) in areas where we have to go with consultants. It is worn out to keep up with people,” he said.
However, one of the points that caused a question mark by the station’s own journalists was the food issue. The congressman assured him that the days when he stopped even eating were long.
“Never in my life have I endured as much hunger as I suffered here in Congress. When they call us for plenary meetings at 9:00 in the morning and we leave at 8:00 in the evening, we can’t move,” he said. .

Berenice Bedoya, senator from the ASI (Independent Social Alliance) party, made similar statements, believing that her salary reduction would affect her significantly.
“I’ve been calculating how much the escorts’ support is worth when dating someone because she has to pay for a car, vans, hotel and meals,” she told Caracol Radio. ‘.
“The corruption of this country is not in the salaries of the senators,” he said. Yes definitely, Bedoya signed the bill to lower the salaries of Senator Jota Pe Hernández. So the discussion will continue on Capitol Hill.
