Series ObiWang Kenobi Disney+ has become a flashpoint for Star Wars fans of all ages. Not only because of the massive discussion about what happened to the fugitive Jedi during his time on Tatooine, but also because of the turning point in history. The reunion of Darth Vader and his master after what happened on Mustafar. A moment that has so far remained a mystery in Star Wars and which will now be revealed in the plot of the series.

The plot of the series takes place ten years after Star Wars. Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. More specifically, at a time when Obi-Wan Kenobi apparently spent quite a bit of time tailing Luke Skywalker. But his time on Tatooine is complicated when, pursued by the surviving Jedi, arrive on the planet in the form of Imperial Inquisitors. And with them, Darth Vader has become a presence that hangs over everyone who escaped death after Order 66.

The inclusion of the most popular villain in the Star Wars saga surprised fans and sparked a lengthy discussion. In particular, what could be expected from the character, once again played by Hayden Christensen. In addition to being a maturing character, he has yet to struggle with his divided nature. And also against the fact that a part of him still has some connection to his personality as Anakin. Will this aspect be explored in the series? Obi-Wan Kenobi?

Unfinished duel in Obi-Wan Kenobi

The first rumors about a possible confrontation between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Vader began in December 2020. At the time, concept art presented at Disney’s Investor Day that year showed footage of both characters fighting. Shortly thereafter, director Deborah Chow stated that the plot was leading to a new meeting of the two characters. “[Nosotros] We will definitely see Obi-Wan and Darth Vader fighting again.” Something that Ewan McGregor also confirmed. “Another fight between the two of them could be quite satisfying for everyone.” Even Kathleen Kennedy promoted the return of Hayden Christensen with the phrase “rematch of the century.”

Under the rule of the Empire, Obi-Wan Kenobi is on an important mission.

A year later, LucasFilm released concept art (the same one rumored earlier) showing Kenobi and Vader fighting. The images show the context between flames, suggesting a scenario similar to Mustafar’s. The plot twist may make sense, since Vader has created a private harbor of sorts on the planet. Kenobi will go looking for him? Most likely, the fugitive Jedi is trying to stop the revenge-hungry and much more cruel Vader. Especially in the midst of a scenario in which Padmé’s death happened relatively recently. Will he try to protect the secret of Luke and Leia’s existence?

A scary landscape in the Disney+ series

Of course, none of the participants revealed anything about potential battles between Vader and Kenobi. In March of this year, Hayden Christensen barely hinted in an interview with EW that the series would feature a particularly strong Vader. And, of course, he is right. By the time you start Obi-Wan Kenobi, the villain has been leading the Emperor’s army for ten years. But nevertheless, he continues to learn about the dark side. Could this mean that we will see a much more aggressive and violent Vader, but still with a more obvious human side?

According to Deborah Chow, Vader on screen is most likely the prequel and remake version of his last image. The latter will be much more unique and complex than the view on the screen. In an interview with EW, the director explained that while the villain makes full use of his powers, there are still spaces where part of Anakin survives. In other words, it’s still not the “twisted and vile” machine that Kenobi’s Force ghost describes in Return of the Jedi. Will this affect what happens with his future encounter with Kenobi?
