The process everyone is talking about finally has a verdict, mostly positive for Johnny Depp, long ago pitted against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. It was a long and complex proceeding, but now, after twelve hours of deliberation, the jury (consisting of five men and three women) has deliberated, revealing how Amber Heard essentially slandered Depp multiple times.
Basically, the measure now provides for double damages for defamation by Heard against her ex-husband: ten million dollars plus five more (symbolic, since the effective cap is 350,000). That’s a lot more than what Depp paid his wife at the divorce, about seven and a half million.
In turn, however, Depp will also have to reimburse Heard two million dollars for some allegations during the trial, certainly less heavy in public opinion than those that came privately, in the press and during the trial (lost by actor) Depp saw against the sun .
The American actor was not present in court at the time of the verdict.
