Given the success of audiences and critics of Top Gun: MaverickJoseph Kosinski is back on the crest of the wave, and there are those who are wondering if it isn’t the right time to return to the office with the project of Tron 3thirteen years after the launch of Tron Legacy, at the time (wrongly?) little appreciated.

However, the American director doesn’t seem very hopeful about it.

I came close. I really tried. But that of 2015 was now a different Disney. When I made Tron: Legacy, they didn’t have Marvel or Star Wars. We did fantasy and science fiction. But once you have these other things to hand, it makes sense to put your money into widely known investments rather than the art student projects in the corner with the painted nails. That was Tron. And that’s okay. After all, if I’d done Tron: Ascension, I wouldn’t have done Only the Brave and the movies I’ve made. And remember, the first Tron wasn’t a success when it came out. But now it’s a cult, a classic. Should it also happen with Tron: Legacy, I couldn’t be more excited about it.

Kosinski’s idea for the third film was to reverse the perspectives of the first two films and, instead of bringing people into the computer world, do the opposite. The project will hardly consider a possibility, at least in the director’s vision (despite the fact that his script was done, including the storyboard), but every now and then something seems to move: recently Jared Leto (long credited with the protagonists) said we would have news about it soon.
