Flash Without a doubt, this was one of the biggest superhero movie flops of 2023. Andy Muschietti’s film starring Ezra Miller did not please audiences and critics and had disastrous commercial performance. Plus, he delivered one of the most unprecedented cameo moments ever. George Clooney as an alternative version Bruce Wayne. A clear hint at his interpretation playboy and superhero in Batman and Robin (1997).
But if you thought George Clooney’s brief appearance was the starting point of his return to DC cinema, you were wrong. The actor confirmed his participation in the feature film it won’t lead to anything and ruled out any possibility of returning to the mantle of the Dark Knight.
The actor took his participation in Muschietti’s film with humor and chose a peculiar comment to illustrate his lack of interest in returning to cinema as Batman. In a recent interview with Entertainment tonightBruce Wayne’s cameo came up in the conversation, and the director also decided to treat it with humor.
When asked how his appearance in Flash– George Clooney replied sarcastically. “As you know, there has been so much buzz about my return as Batman. […]. And I asked: “Where are my rubber nipples?”, and they said: “Can’t we do without rubber nipples?” I said, “That’s not really my Batman, is it?” – he said.
Let’s remember this Batman and Robin, directed by Joel Schumacher, received very harsh reviews. Among them are the costume designs of the characters performed by Clooney himself and Chris O’Donnell, whose costumes included rubber nipples and plastic abs. A film that was also derided for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s performance as Mr. Freeze and other truly absurd elements such as the “flying credit card.”
George Clooney denies rumors of his possible return as Batman
When asked if there was a chance that DC Studios would convince him to return as Batman in the future, George Clooney didn’t hesitate. “I don’t think there are enough drugs in the world to make me come back.”– he said directly.
George Clooney’s smiling comments help quell any rumors of Batman’s possible return in future DC Extended Universe productions. Something that shouldn’t come as too many surprises, given that James Gunn has made his plan to reboot the film franchise clear.
The DC Studios leader also recently stated that he believes “cameo porn” is one of the worst things in modern superhero films. And George Clooney’s participation as Bruce Wayne in Flash can be easily included in such cataloging.
With his sarcastic statements, Clooney seems to be trying to show that he knows that Muschietti’s film is bad and his appearance in it is pointless. Now, it is unlikely that a Hollywood star of this caliber would agree to this type of participation knowing that it would be criticized by the public and critics. Could he have done this just for the money? May be. What would happen if receiving Flash It was good? It’s impossible to know.
Of course, George Clooney’s words that “there aren’t enough drugs in the world” to make him return as Batman leave something clear: the artist wants Turn the page and not get burned again because of one of the most shameful roles in my career.
