It’s no secret: most of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series released on Disney+ haven’t had the success the studio hoped for. In fact, the Marvel Cinematic Universe series has become such a problem for the studio that it’s one of the studio’s biggest restructuring efforts since Bob Iger’s return. This is one of the reasons, along with the writers’ and actors’ strike, why we will see minimal productions in 2024.
But before Marvel wanted to consolidate all of its properties under one audiovisual umbrella, there were several series featuring Marvel characters that were tied into the main timeline to varying degrees. Some are very good, for example Daredevil, Jessica Jones or Agent Carter. Others are terrible, such as In people or Helstrom — something you’ve probably never heard before.
But Marvel’s first series was also one of the worst. Agents of Shield. This was the studio’s first foray into live-action content in partnership with ABC. The idea behind creating Joss Whedon, his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen was to bring back Phil Colson (Clark Gregg), mysteriously reborn after the events in Avengers (2012) and brought together a group of people with and without superpowers to confront superhuman or extraterrestrial threats that could threaten humanity.
Agents of Shield. It started off very well, but as the seasons progressed and Marvel decided to separate it from the main events of the films, things got worse and worse. To such an extent that it became one of the worst Marvel series. But, according to the head of the studio, they are thinking about reviving it.
