In the fifth episode of the third season House of the Dragonsomething has become clear. The war, which is now inevitable and whose first major battle took place in Resto del Grajo, has many more aspects than one might expect. All of them dark and sinister. Moreover, in the midst of a strategic scenario that is becoming increasingly complex. Especially since each character has a hidden agenda, which is likely forces them to confront each other for the Iron Throne.

At least, that’s the case with Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith). The king-consort has so far engaged in questionable behavior that has caused him to lose the trust of Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy). After a clumsy plan that ultimately led to the murder of Aegon II’s (Tom Glynn-Carney) son, Daemon has found himself all but excluded from his wife’s Privy Council. But far worse is what she sees as the most violent, unruly, and dangerous faction of those who support her right to rule.

This prompted the prince to seize his ancestral seat of Harrenhal, with the vague intention of establishing Black rule in one of the most important locations in the realm. Now, since his arrival, Daemon has not only failed to inform the Black Queen of his intentions – whatever they may be – but has shown no sign of returning to Dragonstone. This seemed to indicate that he had a second intention of remaining in that place. What became clear in chapter five House of the Dragon.

A Dark Play at the House of the Dragon

Daemon clearly has his own ideas about the Iron Throne and who should sit on it. Not for nothing, he spent a significant amount of time insisting that he was a king, not a consort. However, it is now clear that he has long-term intentions and thatAll of them involve a movement to secure one’s influence through force.

Since arriving at Harrenhal, the character has been having all sorts of terrifying dreams, mostly related to his feelings of guilt. The latest, the most disturbing and disturbing, showed him in bed in a sex scene with his own mother, in which she confesses that he is her favorite son. But he made the “mistake” of being born after his brother. The point that House of the Dragon This was already touched upon in Season 1 (Chapter 1) and is now being revisited in Damon’s disturbing visions.

Beyond the hint of incest, the script’s approach has an unmistakable message. His relationship with Rhaenyra is not a love story, much less a movement to secure his wife’s place in history. In fact, he is determined to gain access to power. This time from a complex and undoubtedly increasingly twisted perspective. That includes building his own army and taking over the Riverlands. An enclave that would cut off any advances by the Green and This would besiege the enemy in the already impoverished city of King’s Landing. Which will lead to House of the Dragon to your worst case scenario.

Slow Burn Strategy

For the above, the Demon managed to take advantage of the confrontation between the Brackens and Blackwood. And this despite the fact that he is trying to cope with the pressure of the Riverland Lords who arrived to Harrenhal to express his dissatisfaction with the King Consort’s behavior.

All in all, it’s clear that Daemon knows his best move is to unite the entire region and march on King’s Landing. But now, if he does so without the Black Queen’s consent (which is what is happening), it’s a situation that will greatly strengthen Daemon’s power. This seems to have been the intention of the mysterious and cruel Targaryen prince. And this will become the culmination of the film’s plot in the coming weeks. House of the Dragon.
