Amazon will rely on artificial intelligence to improve one of the key features of your video streaming service. The tech giant announced that it will activate AI-generated highlights on Prime Video. This feature will be essential to ensure you don’t miss previous episodes or seasons of your favorite TV series.
According to a blog post, Amazon will implement X-Ray Reviewsan AI-powered feature that generates “short, easily digestible reviews” of TV shows for Prime Video. This feature uses Amazon Bedrock models to create short video clips that chronicle what happened throughout entire seasons.individual episodes or even parts of an episode you are watching.
“X-Ray Recaps offers short text snippets of key cliffhangers, character-based plot points, and other details that can be accessed at any time during viewing,” Amazon noted. The technology company notes that the feature is based on X-Ray, a feature that offers information about a TV series or movie and activates when we pause.
According to the company, X-Ray Recaps uses a combination of custom artificial intelligence models that analyze multiple video fragments with subtitles or dialogues to create “detailed descriptions of key events, places, times and conversations.” Prime Video’s new feature is ideal for shows that take months (or years) to release the next season, as it provides a quick rundown of the things that matter most. X-Ray Recaps will also serve as a reminder for series that release one episode per week.
Prime Video will release spoiler-free reviews thanks to artificial intelligence
One of the main problems with this technology is spoilers. While regular reviews include them because they assume you’ve already watched the content, X-Ray Recaps AI will also be available for the episodes you’re about to play. With this in mind, Amazon said it has implemented security measures to ensure that summary without spoilers.

X-ray reviews will be available at: side of the play button on the series page or in X-Ray mode during a pause. By clicking a button, users can get a summary of the episode being played, the entire season, or the previous one.

“By creating X-Ray Recaps, we are directly addressing a common problem customers experience when streaming content: forgetting where they left off,” said Adam Gray, vice president of product at Prime Video. “This feature will offer recaps of memorable moments and important plot points so our customers can quickly revisit what they were watching or rediscover why they fell in love with the series in the first place.”
X-ray summaries generated by artificial intelligence will be available in series such as Boys, Mr and Mrs Smith, Wheel of Time and other original works. The feature will debut on Fire TVs in the US, although there are plans to expand it to more devices in the future.
