Whenever we see a good series, the same question comes to mind: how did they come up with this idea? This question has several answers. From being a plagiarism of a 30s classic to having a day of fishing with friends come to mind.
For those who have not used either technique, but a mixture of both, there is an origin based on inspiration. The original idea, which was used at the time, is reused to focus on it in a different or more comprehensive way, with re-watching in series format.
How many times have we finished a good movie and cursed loudly because there was no sequel to it, no books that would expand the story a little more. What happened to us Dune readers when Frank Herbert released the first book (and happened to us with the publication of the fourteenth).
Today we are going with exactly those series that did the work of expanding the universe that we liked, or the idea that attracted our attention so much that two hours of the film seemed to us not enough. And most importantly, surprise you with our selection of series. Target? You will be surprised.
Without further ado, let’s move on to the most amazing episode – and possibly the best – from the original film. Are you able to guess them all? Let’s see it.

Hannibal
Will Graham, who works as a crime analyst for the FBI, has an innate ability to empathize with psychopaths, which allows him to understand their motives. But when he realizes that the mind of the serial killer he’s looking for is too complex even for him, he enlists the help of one of the country’s leading psychiatrists, Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
As you can see, the synopsis of this series is identical to the film The Silence of the Lambs. which in 1991 brought fame to Julian Moore and confirmed that Anthony Hopkins was a gifted actor.
For the series, the producers did not hesitate to sign an actor to play the key character, Hannibal Lecter. As you may have noticed on the cover of this section, the actor in question is none other than Mad Michelsen, at that time an excellent actor who did not have much fame outside of Denmark.
In June 2015, NBC confirmed the series’ cancellation after three very successful seasons, but that doesn’t stop you from enjoying some great TV work, especially if you’re a fan of the original films.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance
The series returns to the world of Thra with a new adventure. When three Gelflings discover the terrible secret of the Skeksis’ power, they embark on an epic journey to ignite the fire of rebellion and save their world. It was sung as it was one of the bombs of 2019 on Netflix.
There was a movie in 1982 that blew an entire generation who watched as dark fantasy flooded the theaters. The budget for those times was huge: 25 million dollars. And this is normal, everything was done by hand, and Jim Henson was the inspiration for everything.
If the style of the movie reminds you of anything, it’s the puppets: all the characters were puppets. manipulated to bring them to life, which is why the movie has aged so well and the series has managed to keep the spirit of the 80s without losing visual strength.
This Netflix bet has been a big hit with fans of the original film, who are now placing it on their children and even grandchildren as the 40 years between them has not been in vain.

Western world
Westworld is a futuristic, high-tech amusement park run by Dr. Robert Ford (again, Anthony Hopkins). The facilities contain human-looking androids, and thanks to them, visitors can give free rein to their instincts and experience any adventure or fantasy, no matter how dark or dangerous.
As you well know, a few days ago, HBO Max premiered the fourth season of a series that is driving fans crazy. And not in a good way, but in the strict sense of the word: no one understands anything.
For most movie buffs, this series won’t take them by surprise on our list. But for mere mortals, this revelation is important. Westworld is based on Westworld, a film and book by Michael Crichton that premiered in 1973.. His Spanish translation was Almas de metal.
This example perfectly describes the situation that we described at the beginning: very good ideas that deserve to be presented with great attention and time. Without a doubt, the first season is a work of art that is highly recommended.

Fargo
Lester Nygaard, a shy insurance salesman from a small town in Minnesota, finds his world turned upside down by the arrival of a mysterious and wild stranger. From this start, the series begins, which has been on the air for several seasons and has received many awards.
The series is based on the film of the same name by the Coen brothers.although it has different characters and takes place in 2006, original work in 1996 and was so popular that it was supposed to become a TV series. Again an example of a movie that needed a normal sequel.
Despite the fact that the first season is set in 2006, different parts changed the date until it reached Fargo IV (season four), which is set in 1950 and with actors of the level of Krish Rock who, in addition to being spanked – A great comedian and actor.
It’s available on both HBO Max and Movistar Plus+, so depending on the service you signed up with, you’ll have to open one or the other. It’s worth it.

What are we doing in the shadows
The action takes place in New York. It tells the story of three vampires who have been roommates for hundreds and hundreds of years and recounts their experiences during that period in a mockumentary format. Coming to platforms in 2019, this series has an origin you guessed it: the original movie.
What We Do in the Shadows (2014) was one of the first performances by Taika Waititi, a director and actor who has achieved huge success over the past five years. To give you an idea, he is the director of the last two Thor films, including the recently released Love and Thunder.
Of all the series we have on the list, this series is the only one that is explicitly humorous. Despite its dark and creepy atmosphere (they are vampires without going into details)the genre of the series is purely comedy … with hints of horror.
In this case, we have a series on both Disney+ and HBO Max, as there’s nothing better than being able to choose where we’ll see our favorite series.

Ash vs Evil Dead
Ash has spent the last thirty years avoiding growing up and fighting the horrors spawned by the Necronomicon. Still the same foul-mouthed know-it-all as ever, he suddenly finds himself having to pick up his chainsaw again to fight a plague of the dead that threatens to wipe out all of humanity as he struggles to come to terms with his past.
We’ve been watching Bruce Campbell kill zombies since 1992, when Sam Raimi directed Army of Darkness. Since then, life has become a little better, and the audiovisual world has become brighter and more beautiful … despite the fact that the series is about killing hellish monsters.
If you liked the original movie, this series is simply not to be missed. If you’re too young to see the 1992 play, don’t worry, it’s worth doing now. We said ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ was the only comedy series, but we lied: ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ is pure laughter.
Do yourself a favor and turn on Netflix right now to enjoy the three seasons that have been filmed so far (it’s been cancelled, so don’t expect more, the fact that the series already exists is a miracle).
