It has already been announced: Netflix lost 200,000 users in the first three months of 2022, and things are not going well, although it remains the perfect platform for many.

The reasons for this loss are varied, including strong competition from other companies, the inability to expand in some regions due to technological constraints, the war between Ukraine and Russia, and account sharing.

And a few months ago, Netflix launched a test program in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru that forces subscribers to pay extra to share accounts with friends and family. In these cases, users are charged an additional fee to add a new member to a Netflix account using an individual login linked to the main account.

We have now learned that this system has been launched in five more Latin American countries: Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and the Dominican Republic.

In this case, the strategy is different as customers are required to pay an extra fee. if they use an account for more than two weeks from their primary residence. This new rate is $2.99.

For now, the system uses televisions to identify multiple sign-ins in different places, as Netflix’s users say. They won’t have to pay extra to watch Netflix on smartphones, tablets or computers.

They are “Netflix approved” cameras that can shoot your movies and TV shows.

All this is on the table and with the company’s main belief that the subscriber loss is mainly due to this aspect, we will see if it continues to increase the password sharing fee to other regions. However, Netflix is still working on a cheaper version with ads.

At the moment, there is no information about the price of the new plan, there is no information about details such as whether or how often the ads will appear in all movies, TV shows and serials. Yes, it’s true that if we focus on the UK, there is already talk of £5 which would be slightly less than €6 when converted to euros.
