THE Walt Disney Studios will develop a film based on Il Child of the cemeterynovel by Neil Gaiman which in its original language is called The Graveyard Book. Marc Forster will direct the project. Renée Wolfe will co-produce 2Dux2 with Gil Netter. Ben Browning will be the other producer. David Magee will handle the script.

The novel The Child of the Cemetery was published in 2008 and received several awards, including the American Newberry Medal and the Hugo Award. The story centers on Nobody “Bod” Owen, a young man raised by ghosts and other supernatural figures, and the cemetery keeper Silas, after his family is murdered. The eight chapters that make up the story each take place two years after the previous one and follow the main character’s growth.

Neil Gaiman said the genesis of the story was born from a situation he experienced in 1985 when he saw his two-year-old son riding a tricycle across the graveyard. Recall that in August the highly anticipated The Sandman, adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s main comic, will hit the Netflix streaming platform.
