The new pictures of Suzume no Tojimaricthe following animated film, drawn by Japanese director Makoto Shinkai, shows us the three co-stars of the film: Sota Munakata, Daijin and… a chair.

The film’s story centers on seventeen-year-old Suzume, who after a mysterious encounter finds an absurd door amid ruins, which once opened will lead to a series of disasters for all of Japan, which she will have to avert.
The first of the characters presented by the new pictures is Sota Munakata, a charming boy with a fate similar to Suzume’s. Then we have Daijin, a mysterious sentient white cat who knows more than he appears to be. Finally, the funny chair with a broken leg that Suzume takes with her.
Shinkai – known for the delicacy of its stories, full of fantastic elements in hyper-realistic contexts – confirms that it is a film about “closing the doors” (understood as exceptional situations), a road movie and … a chance to get back into the cinema. The appointment is in Japanese cinemas before November 11. A distribution in our country has not yet been announced, which, however, seems self-evident given the credit built up by the director’s previous works, which are also quite famous with us, especially Your Name.
The staff of the film is that of Shinkai, who, in addition to directing, is also the author of the story and script. The character design is by Masayoshi Tanaka, with Takumi Tanji as art director. TOHO is distributing the film, a production of CoMix Wave Films and Story Inc.
