The last night of Magna Graecia Film Festival 19 delivered the John Landis masterclass and also the award ceremony: the winning film was A woman from Valerio Costabilewith the best direction that went to Gabriele Mainetti in front of Is panicking. The jury of the first and second works of Italian feature films – composed of Pietro Marcello (President), Michele Alhaique, Giuseppe Zeno, Maria Sole Tognazzi and Barbara Chichiarelli – determined all the winners: Best Picture “Una Female”, directed by Francesco Costabile, prize retired by the actress Anna Maria De Luca; Best Director Gabriele Mainetti for Freaks Out; Best Actress Lina Siciliano for “A Woman”; Best Lillo Actor for “Women’s Idols”; Best Screenplay Nicola Guaglianone and Gabriele Mainetti for Freaks Out Guaglianone himself dedicated the award to all film students and invited them to continue their passion: “Don’t give up, keep going, film is a safe job, because telling stories will never happen. do grow old”.

The first and second works of international feature films were judged by a jury composed of director John Landis (chairman), stylist Domenico Vacca and Nadia Tereszkiewic, protagonist of the next film by François Ozon. The jury awarded Van Maximilian Carlson’s “Princess of the Row” as Best Picture and a special mention went to actress Seidi Haarla, star of Juho Kuosmanen’s “Compartment N.6”. “Rue Garibaldi” by Federico Francioni and “I have never gone back” by Silvana Costa are the winning titles ex aequo of the first and second works of documentaries – curated by Antonio Capellupo – determined by the jury composed of Agostino Ferrente (President) , Roberto Perpignani and Serena Gramizzi.

The ceremony was preceded by the thanks of Director Gianvito Casadonte to sponsors and partners who supported the event and by the intervention of the Mayor of Catanzaro, Nicola Fiorita:

I sincerely thank Gianvito for making Catanzaro the center of the Mediterranean for a week. This is the result of constant, tenacious, determined work.

On the sidelines, a gold column was awarded to Roberto Perpignani who “was able to elevate editing into a real art, which profoundly marked the history of cinema”. Organized by the association of the same name, in association with the Clorofilla Film Festival and the Magna Graecia Film Festival, the Vittorio De Seta Award was instead awarded to Tommaso Cotronei’s “Burden Child”. To give a musical moment, guitar and voice were first Pago and finally meter Beatrice Grannò with farewell to next year and the twentieth edition.
