Neil Gaiman lately he reveals several interesting details and anecdotes about the production of the comics of the sandman and to the never made film projects related to the character, and the last anecdote concerns the interest of Michael Jackson for the role of Morpheus.

Here are Neil Gaiman’s words about it:

I started working with Warner in 1996, and at one point the president of the production company informed me that Michael Jackson had contacted him to ask if he could play the part of Morpheus in Sandman. There was a lot of interest in this thing, they knew they were touching one of the crown jewels. And I was very surprised by all this.

It’s not the first time we’ve talked about Michael Jackson’s combination with a comics-based project, as the pop star also had contacts with Stan Lee to play the role of Spider-Man. The Sandman has become a huge television success of late, thanks to the TV series airing on the Netflix platform and with Tom Sturridge playing Morpheus.
