We were so close. I will always regret that this project never materialized. And it all happened because of Doctor Sleep’s box office results, which made Warner Bros. went no further. They own the rights and that’s why this happened.

Doctor Sleep’s box office results were indeed rather meager as the film cost $45 million but grossed only $72 million worldwide.

Doctor Sleep is the sequel to Danny Torrance’s story, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and Kyliegh Curran star in this supernatural thriller directed by Mike Flanagan, based on a screenplay by him based on the Stephen King novel.
