Tom Hanks revealed via the Happy Sad Confused podcast that the sequel to Forrest Gump, but that the conversation only lasted 40 minutes. The 1994 success of the feature film brought in nearly $700 million worldwide, so some discussion of a new chapter was legitimate.

I can tell you this: a while ago we had a discussion about a new movie about Forrest Gump. It’s something that took about 40 minutes. And after a while we said “come on guys”.
We recall that Forrest Gump is a movie based on Winston Groom’s novel, telling the story of a person who suffers from a cognitive impairment, but through a series of situations manages to witness some of the most important events in the history of the United States.
The film was directed by Robert Zemeckis and dominated the 1995 Oscars ceremony, taking home six statuettes, including one for best picture.
