Produced by Nexo Digital with Rai Cinema, Portrait of Queen is a docufilm directed by Fabrizio Ferri, who also draws the direction of photography here, based on the book of the same name published by Mondadori, written by Paola Calvetti, author of the screenplay: we present photos, posters and trailers of the film, arriving in cinemas from 21 to 23 November.

Thanks to the extraordinary complicity of British actor Charles Dance, who accompanies the documentary as a witness and interpreter, the great photographers of the past come to life not only with “royal” images, but also through the words of their original diaries and their “confessions “, as discreet as it is exhaustive. Thus we move from the formal and sophisticated portraits of Cecil Beaton to those of the famous Yousuf Karsh, who documents Elizabeth’s days in more intimate tones, as well as the photographs of Tony Armstrong-Jones, later promoted to Lord Snowdon. The journey through images finally reaches the contemporary age, thanks to the testimonials – also unpublished – of click superstars such as Chris Levine, Brian Aris, Julian Calder, Jason Bell, John Swannell, David Montgomery, who participate in the documentary presenting their vision. and experience for an absolutely unique “model”.
The testimonies of the photographers, the images of the Queen, the focus on her most accurate, intense, intimate portraits, emblematic of the history of the twentieth century, the sincere and fresh voices of English subjects, are interspersed with conversations with Emma Blau ( photographer and co-owner of Agency Camera Press), Pierpaolo Piccioli (Valentino creative director and one of the most important stylists and creative directors in the world), Isabella Rossellini (the woman who has had the most covers in the history of the publishing house, a of the most photographed in the world) and Susan Sarandon (who met the Queen in person and who gives viewers a more personal and intimate reflection on a ruler’s role, obligations and complexities). The lush original soundtrack by pianist and composer Remo Anzovino, released on the Nexo Digital label and distributed by Believe in the fall, adds even more body and color to the vision.
