In addition to three new, different video games (Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill and Silent Hill Townfall) and a new feature film from its flagship horror franchise, Konami also announced something completely new tonight: an interactive TV series titled Silent Hill: Ascension.
A teaser trailer was shown and guests from Genvid Entertainment, Bad Robot and bEHAVIOUR, three of the companies working on the project (the other being DJ2 Entertainment), intervened.
You can see the part of the event related to Ascension in the following video (we have already selected the start time of the segment for you):
In the trailer, we see a chat full of alarming messages in which a group of people wonder how to save a person in danger, while a disturbing and menacing figure stands out in a nighttime landscape.
However, it is not clear how it will be possible to interact with the film, although apparently there will be some kind of companion app that will manage everything, even via instant messaging.
Jacob Navok, CEO of Navok, says they wanted to take the sense of involvement that comes with watching a horror movie with friends to another level:
Silent Hill: Ascension will take that sense of collective fear to a new level. An interactive live broadcast TV series, where millions of fans will witness the terrifying story unfolding together. You can change the outcome and even be part of the scenes. There is no reset button. Your decisions will mean life or death in history.
Together we will revolutionize the horror genre in interactive media.
JJ Abrams, celebrated director, producer and creator of Bad Robot, made the following statement:
The Genvid Experience presents a wild, epic and new way to immerse yourself in the horrors of Silent Hill.
Artistic Director of Bad Robot. Chris Amaral, Mathieu Cote of Behavior Interactive (creator of Dead by Daylight), and Chris Ferriera (VP Creative) comment:
Our approach is to ensure that we maintain the tone and sentiment of fans towards the franchise. Adding our vision of a suppressed, tormented and bleak dimension of reality. The creatures of Silent Hill are often manifestations from the darkest depths of the main characters. We’ve been working on this. Our creatures are inspired by their traumas and internal demons from our characters’ past lives.
In 2021, we made The Executioner and survivor, Cheryl Mason, in Dead by Daylight. Today, Behavior is once again immersing itself in the world of Silent Hill, with a completely new experience.
A new entertainment formula that combines community and interactivity. SH: Ascension offers you and the entire community a unique interactive storytelling experience. A whole new chapter, with new characters and scary monsters where the risks couldn’t be more real.
For further info we will have to wait until the official website ascension.com is filled with new details: in the meantime you can subscribe to the newsletter.
