Today Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the pillars of the cinematic universe miracle with his Doctor Strangebut there was a time when the interpreter could have worn different clothes, and to deepen all this we have to go back to the time of Thor: The Dark World According to Cumberbatch, speaking to the BBC, it appears that he was offered the role of a villain at the time, that of Malekith.
Here’s what he stated:
Doctor Strange’s is something that came right after another dance I did for the Marvel Cinematic Universe that involved a smaller character. I then had the courage to say, ‘I’m honored to have been invited to something like this, but I’d like to wait for something juicier.’
And shortly after, the proposal for Doctor Strange came. And even at that point, Cumberbatch didn’t seem to decide whether to accept it or not, as reading the comics gave him the impression that he was facing a figure who was too old-fashioned and misogynistic. But the production reassured him that they intended to modernize the character.
Beginning May 4, fans will be able to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in theaters.
