Jamie Reyes is a man who wears the Blue Beetle costume from DC. This figure, compared to other superheroes, doesn’t have much of a path in the DC comics saga. However, the specific history of this figure has a lot of backstory. Charles Nicholas Wojtkipski created the Blue Beetle in 1940..
At the time, Wojtckski was doing it not for DC, but for Fox. The first of these companies bought the rights in 1983. Dan Garrett, something that later changed. In the original story, the superhero gets his powers with the help of special vitamins. This idea has been corrected. Thus was born the version that Blue Beetle gained his powers by coming into contact with an Egyptian beetle.
After some other change, the character acquired his final personality. Since 2006, he has been known as Jaime Reyes.. At this time, the history of the Blue Beetle is being rewritten. That first version starring Garrett had an alien origin: the beetle he came into contact with didn’t belong to this planet. The piece was found by Ted Kord, who would later take on the superhero mantle. He, in turn, was later found by Shazam, who lost him during the fight.
Thus, the mystical object ended up in El Paso, Texas. Jamie Reyes found it there. What happens then? The beetle becomes one with Reyes’ spine, giving him his powers from symbiotic armor with alien technology that allows him to have access to weapons. As you can see, the trailer for the movie is based on this origin story. This character will join the Teen Titans after a while.
At this point, the extent that Blue Beetle may have in relation to the franchise is unknown. This production will be followed in the coming months and as part of the DC Extended Universe projects by the premiere of Flashscheduled for June 16, and the one Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomscheduled for December 25th.
