In six films and two animated shows, the character Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the most important characters in Star Wars. This is due to his significant role in each of the original stories of the saga. Also for the impact of their presence, actions and speeches in the midst of situations of particular importance in history.

The Disney+ series based on the character will try to organize the disparate information about the hero. Also carefully tie one of the fundamental pillars along the entire length. space opera the most loved movie It’s adding data to the saga’s ever-growing mythology. Obi-Wan Kenobi claims to be the latest platform phenomenon. But at the same time, a point of convergence between the most recent fans of the franchise and the traditional ones. Can he do it?

This is not an easy task. After all, Star Wars has become a mixture of old and new influences moving through uncharted territory. After the relative disappointment of the most recent trilogy, it was the Disney+ platform series that managed to regain the spirit and strength of its idea. So Obi-Wan Kenobi is expected to be a happy combination of the expanding universe of the galactic saga and something newer. Moreover, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will have to answer a number of important questions.

A long time ago Ben, a hermit in the mountains

The twisted story of a survivor of the tragic Order 66 and the most famous Jedi fugitive in the saga begins in the saga’s prequels. In them, we meet a very young Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), who, along with Master Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson), crosses the universe on various missions. Both are immersed in the Clone Wars which is detailed in the 7 seasons of the anime clone wars. By that time, the Jedi Order has full power and political influence, but at the same time suspects that something is happening in the midst of inexplicable situations. Some of them are related to Queen Amidala (Natalie Portman) and sometimes to the ambiguous Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid).

But the most important moment is the meeting with the little Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd), whom he will protect and lead along the path of the Jedi. And it is Kenobi who will later be responsible for his training and attempts to turn his gigantic potential into a point of balance. For both the Force and the Jedi Order, Anakin’s abilities are of great importance. And it is the fall of the latter to the dark side that will accelerate the destruction of the Jedi as a power structure. Also the disappearance into a strange space of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s pain and guilt.

Especially when Anakin is a grown man and his Padawan (Hayden Christensen) becomes his enemy. Armed with the arm of Emperor Palpatine and a deadly Sith, the renamed Darth Vader will become Obi-Wan Kenobi’s archenemy. But also the center of a series of stories linking the Jedi Master to his past and future. Especially with the care and protection he dedicates to his son Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

The next thing we know about Obi-Wan Kenobi is that he ends up on Tatooine and ends up helping the grown-up Luke. In that Episode IV: A New Hope, the Jedi (played by Alec Guinness this time) completes his Skywalker protector cycle. And this leads directly to the final battle with Vader and his death. Lastly, he will be Luke’s ghostly guide as a Force ghost. A legacy form that immortalized his figure as the ultimate sage in the saga.

Long road with no answers

Of course, Obi-Wan Kenobi is also a character with a fair amount of questions. And several of them related to specific events that the Disney + series could have reacted to in one way or another. In fact, while the plot of the program is being kept under wraps, some things are already fairly obvious. Obi-Wan Kenobi Reveals Kenobi’s Dark Years on Tatooineas a survivor of the nefarious Order 66 and especially his attention to Luke.

But in addition, the series could include interesting data about Kenobi’s past. From more information about Studjohn, his home planet, to his family and his relationship – possibly – with the Jedi Order. At this point, the context of the character has been preserved for decades under a certain amount of opacity. Moreover, its relevance became more and more, and its influence was decisive. Obi-Wan Kenobi could finally be how the saga can look at Kenobi from multiple perspectives.

Another interesting plot thread is the possibility announced in the prequels that Kenobi may have reunited with his master Qui-Gon Jinn. Of course, this time in the form of a power ghost. Or is it something more complex? As we remember, in the final scenes Revenge of the Sith Yoda makes it clear to Obi-Wan that the possibility of communicating with Qui-Gon is real. Since the series takes place on Tatooine and after the events of the movie, there is probably an answer to the dilemma.

It could also clear up the problem with Force ghosts. The device that allowed Kenobi himself, and then Yoda and even Luke, to return is never explored in the films. Is it time for a live version outside of the literary canon to explore the theme? One is of considerable interest to understand more than just such an under-researched part of Star Wars as its connection to death. Also, Kenobi’s strength when he faced his final duel with Vader.

All the faces of evil in Obi-Wan Kenobi

One aspect of deep interest that Obi-Wan Kenobi will touch upon and clarify from Kenobi’s history is the possibility of a meeting between the former Jedi and Vader. The question already has a partial answer. LucasFilm insisted in the final weeks of promotion that the series would feature an unprecedented showdown between the two. And that can include a tense, difficult, and violent encounter after Kenobi will leave Anakin to die on the volcanic planet Mustafar.

This is a question that concerns morality and the world after Order 66 and its aftermath. Although Anakin Skywalker had committed all sorts of crimes by the time he was injured, Kenobi’s decision to abandon him is controversial. So much so that this is perhaps the reason for the brutal scenario in the years to come. Will Vader go for revenge? Will this be the driving force behind his actions in the first years after his fall?

Of course, this leads to another interesting Obi-Wan Kenobi theme. The secrets that Kenobi keeps. One scenario the series is likely to face is how to deal with the fact that Luke was raised by his paternal family. This is by trying to hide it from Darth Vader in full force. The big question might be possible confrontation between both characters takes place in the midst of his mission to protect the twins from Amidala. Especially if everything that happens in the series has some kind of mystical or mysterious purpose associated with Luke.

Without a doubt, Obi-Wan Kenobi was one of the greatest Star Wars mysteries. And it is likely that he will receive the answer in the series that bears his name.
