We are in the week of Love, Death and Robots, the science fiction animated series that millions of people fall in love with. Original ideas, very short chapters that explore little to unleash the imagination, and the exquisite artistry of each episode have been key to its international success.

For this premiere, a lot of people these days wondered out loud: What animated movies and TV shows explore the same universes as the original Netflix series? Fortunately, the answer is many. Others have already gone to the ends of the universe to show sci-fi stories.

The year is 3208. Earth is under attack by the evil Drej aliens, a highly advanced race made of pure energy. In the midst of the chaos, scientist Sam Tucker summons his son Cale and takes him away from Earth in a spaceship to save him.

Tucker heads to the Titan spaceship, the richest starship in the galaxy, as he is the only ray of hope in the face of impending disaster. If you get goosebumps when you remember the summary, you are one of us. One of the great animated movies of the turn of the millennium.

Titan AE (2000) was hugely popular from its premiere, despite Disney’s domination of the animation world with an iron fist. This work under the umbrella of 20th Century Fox brought a truly valuable space adventure story. Great fun to watch with kids (7+ if possible).

The movie is available in high definition on Disney+ if the drawings of that time can be called HD. But we’re not complaining, that’s part of its magic.

The action places us in 2071, when bounty hunters, with their entire arsenal of space, are back in fashion in the world. The characters Spike, Jet, Faye, Ed and Ein travel aboard a ship called the Bebop in search of space criminals.

This Japanese original television series was critically acclaimed in 1998, the year it premiered. After its publication, it became a cult work. Also, since it was only produced for one season, that unique and special aura has accompanied it all these years…or so it seemed.

Why are we saying this? Because they tried to resurrect it with a live-action series on Netflix this year, and the crap was epic.. So much so that the series was canceled a few days after its premiere. It looks like productions related to Cowboy Bebop will only be able to shoot for one season. It’s part of the magic.

The series is available on Netflix and is much more recommended than its counterparts with real actors. If you like sci-fi stories with bounty hunters, you’ll enjoy this one a lot. If you wear it anyway, it will be like traveling back to a time that was always better.

The year is 2029. In a massive Asian city, a cyborg police robot woman investigates the sinister activities of a mysterious hacker, a supercriminal invading information highways. We’re approaching the year of the recap, and we still haven’t had a look at that cyberpunk world.

Kokaku Kidotai, or Ghost in the Shell, as it is known in the West, was released in 1995 and is the movie that gave birth to an entire genre. Or at least, who fashioned the cyberpunk style in sci-fi animation, which is now famous again thanks to the CD Projekt Red video game.

It might sound like there’s a new live-action movie about it, and you won’t be wrong. In 2017, the great Scarlett Johansson donned the cyborg skin of Motoko to play one of her most interesting roles to date. It’s her performance that saves the movie.

Millions of children have grown up with this movie etched on their retinas. It’s a friendship story about not hating those who are different and not trusting appearances. Demir Dev (1999) has done more for integration than many schools and teachers in 20 years.

Warner Bros. It scored a bit critically for being somewhat disastrous at the collectible level: $20 million lost in the months after its release. Fortunately at that time, the merchandising and VHS had a large part of the investment back.
