Naughty Dog will be working on a remaster The Last of Us Part 2. Interestingly, a studio employee found out about the existence of this project through LinkedIn.
Reportedly VGKdeveloper Mark Pajarillo included this information in the experience section of his profile on the platform. “Responsible for overseeing the production of all external art materials, weapons and interactive environment props for two iconic games, The Last of Us: Part One And The Last of Us 2: Remastered” – originally stated.
This in itself may not reveal much. Actually this is not true. However, it is clear that some alarm was sounded in the Naughty Dog offices, as this description has since been redacted. It now reads: “Responsible for overseeing the production of all external art assets, weapons and interactive environment props for two iconic games, The Last of Us: Part One“.
Yeah, mention of The Last of Us 2: Remasteredbut the statement was not fully corrected. Perhaps Pajarillo, in his haste to repair the damage, did not notice this detail.
At the moment, the franchise studio has not officially announced a remastering. However, the hypothetical existence of this initiative is not particularly surprising, given that Naughty Dog already has experience optimizing its video games.
In fact, the first payment Last of us It was updated for the PlayStation 4 in 2014., just a year after its initial release on PS3. The remake premiered for PS5 in September 2022, and appeared on PC this year.
¿The Last of Us Part 2 Is a remastering coming?
This isn’t the first time clues pointing to a remastering have come to light. The Last of Us Part 2. In July the composer Gustavo Santaolalla hinted that Naughty Dog is working on a “new version” of the game to be released in 2020. In an interview with comedian Guille Aquino on the channel I listen to suggestionsfrom Blender, the Argentine musician mentioned his cameo in the second part of the game.
Santaolalla, who appears with a ronroco, one of his favorite musical instruments with which he composed much of the game’s soundtrack, mentioned that your participation will be more interactive. “In the new edition [los jugadores] They can force me to play certain songs. But I can’t tell you anything more,” said the two-time Oscar winner.
This suggests that if this is indeed a remastering The Last of Us Part 2 is in development, the goal of which is not only to improve the visuals, but also to retouch some of the problems associated with the gameplay. Despite this, there is still no indication as to when this apparent proposal might be made public.
Let’s not forget that those who played the game on PS5 have already enjoyed the interesting optimization of the graphics section. In May 2021, Naughty Dog released a patch to allow next-gen console users to play the game at 60 frames per second, while it was limited to 30 frames per second on PS4.
We’ll have to keep waiting to learn more about this possible remastering.. However, given the surge in gaming interest driven by the HBO and Max series, it wouldn’t be unusual for news to surface in the coming months.
