After announcing the arrival of the substantial patch that introduces the New Game+ to Horizon Forbidden West, guerrilla goes back to talking about Aloy’s latest adventure on the PlayStation blog with a message explaining how it came about mechanical beatthe famous minigame from the title.

Mechanical Beating is a miniature board game that Aloy can play against various characters from the Forbidden West,” explains community manager Bo de Vries. “In this tactical game, pieces of the iconic Horizon Machines move around the board, ‘fighting’ each other.

As you would expect from a game invented by the combative Tenakth, the aim is to take out all of the opponent’s machines. To win it is not enough to field the strongest pieces, because strategy is also crucial. And the further west you go, the stronger your opponents become.

A lot of open world RPGs use this kind of activity to make the world more immersive, which is always appreciated by a certain type of player, so we decided to go this way.

In the in-depth study published on the PS Blog pages, several members of the Guerrilla team explain how they contributed to the birth and development of Mechanical Batosta with a whole host of details and curiosities about various features of the minigame such as design, interface, tutorials and many more. The implementation of Mechanical Batosta has involved active collaboration between different teams who have joined forces to create something authentic and credible for the world of Horizon.

We remind you that Horizon Forbidden West is available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. An update has been released in recent days that introduces several new features, including the New Game + and an Ultra Hard mode.
